Based on recent evidence, women who contracted covid-19 during pregnancy have higher risk for morbidity, maternal mortality, admission for intensive care towards late pregnancy and preterm birth. If they deteriorate in the late trimester, emergency caesarean is very often required to take out the baby in order to continue maternal treatment for covid-19 infection and also improve baby survival. Should the babies born to infected mothers require intubation, the paediatric doctors are exposed to risk of infection during the procedure of intubation. PAPR is the last barrier for our health care workers as personal protection.
In view of covid positive pregnant women is on the rise, there are more newborns requiring neonatal intensive care until their repeated swabs prove they are clear from infection and can be healthily discharged. Every baby born to covid mother requires an isolation room equipped with an independent set of equipment such as infant weighing scale, digital scale, milk warmer to facilitate routine neonatal care. They cannot share the common equipment with other babies born to non-covid mothers to reduce chance of cross-contamination.

由于新冠肺炎的孕妇患者与日俱增，她们所生的宝宝也需要入住新生儿加护病房被隔离直至健康出院。每一个新冠肺炎孕妇所生的宝宝需要独立的隔离房以及用品和器材，无法与其他非新冠肺炎孕妇所生的宝宝共用同一套器材以减低交叉感染的风险。
